Making money from home is quite a wonderful thing. I have had many jobs over the years doing various things and each one reminds me how nice it is to take the day off when you want to, have two hours for lunch, book a dentist appointment without having to ask for time off, or to simply work without the fear of somehow not quite pleasing the ‘boss’!
It’s a wonderful feeling being your own boss and although it can be quite a lonely existence sitting at your computer, it’s great to not be ‘owned’ by anyone!
This in itself is something worth working hard for. It’s a matter of self respect and pride and for some, I think, working for yourself is the only way to achieve this.
This is easy to forget when the going gets tough and things are not working according to plan. It’s easy to give up and join everyone else – they all said it would never work anyway! But somehow fighting for a dream is infinitely more appealing than lying down in comfort with all the other sheep!

Money making online can be infuriating at times and it’s definitely not for the faint hearted. If you like a challenge then it’s definitely that. When I set out to make money online a few years ago I thought it was a quick and easy ticket to riches.
I jumped from course to course trying out several ‘systems’. Having started on ebay by selling clothes from charity shops I moved onto using a misspell tool to find cheap items on ebay. I quickly learned I could buy items from ebay cheaper than the rising prices I could find at the charity shops.
After a while of doing this I decided it wasn’t going to make me rich as I was scouring the internet for bargains, waiting at the post office queue for far too long and not making really enough money for all my efforts. I was lazy it had to be said and I didn’t want to work any harder! I wanted to work smarter.
I had my eye on something better - Doug: Coughlin’s Law: “anything else is always something better” (From the film Cocktail). It started from the ebay days after I had bought a course describing how to make a downloadable sale. It worked without having to send anything physically and the customer just downloaded a file – also known as an e-book!
E-books were all the rage several years ago and you still see them now. The idea is to sell something from a website page but without having to be there to operate or approve the sale. You could do it on ebay back then but then they changed the rules which meant you had to physically post the item rather than downloading a file.
Anyway, the idea led me away from ebay and towards affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing you can sell other people’s products for them by creating links to their pages and once set up you have an automatic income system. When a customer buys a product from the sales page through your link, you make a commission. No selling, no dealing with customers and you can work whenever and wherever you want. Sounds good to me.
Problem was everyone was doing it and no-one could see my free websites ( I used free blogs when I started out). Companies like Amazon and ebay kept changing their terms and so did Google. I tried everything. I used adsense, adwords, built my own sites and created my own blogs. The small successes I achieved were quickly over shadowed by changes of terms and conditions in various affiliate companies which I used and having my adwords accounts closed repeatedly for violations!!

Google don’t like affiliates much because they don’t bring much to the table. They ‘sneek’ into the gaps in the market and send visitors to larger more respectable websites – much like a leech feeding off its host!
After several ventures using a variety of income generation techniques, I decided I wanted to generate a totally free ‘passive’ income from the internet . I spent an awful lot of time jumping from one idea to the next, trying out various methods but without sticking to any one of them.
As I started to see some money making potential in this whole internet thingy, I stumbled on George Brown’s course which was exactly what I had been looking for. I had already been using some of the principles he teaches from other various courses but his was the most practical and organised of courses I had taken. Everything is broken down into specific action steps and it’s miles ahead of anything else I have tried.
Making sales from organic traffic is incredibly rewarding, much more so than by paying for your traffic! Of course it takes time to build on an individual sale but the possibility of a passive income from free traffic is far too exciting a prospect to pass up! Once you see the magic of making a sale from one of your sites you can build other sites which all act as little trickles of income. Over time by generating content and building links, your small streams of income can grow into much larger income streams .
